Downloads… platform infra for instruments
The tools on the previous pages are vst-plugin DLLs, that do not run stand alone on your PC. They are vst plugins and they needHOSTplatform, where to plugin and play them.
Fortunately there is FreeVSThost by Herman Seib – to mention one of many.
Of course, if you are player, you may be allergic to
key(board) lag, that is the time delay latency between the key press
and sound output. There is solution for that too.
Free asio4allsoftware installation solves this in windows PC-computer well enough. I do not comment apples here.
Setting up the Vsthost
Menu:
File->set plugin path – remember, where you installed the instruments
Devices ->Midi – find and select, if you have midi keyboard – otherwise play with your computer keyboard
Devices -> Wave – find what driver (MME, WASAPI or asio) works audio out
View ->capture keyboard – select it to simultaneously control sound and play various instruments in ”live performance”
You can record your playing session and it appears as wav-file into selected folder. It may be further freely converted to mp3-format byaudacitywith lame extension.

So how?
There are many touchable black and white tabs in pianolike touch board. You should preferably keep your playing mostly on certain notes in your session – they say keep in Scales. Cmajor, Aminor etc. Scale includes set of acceptable notes. Otherwise you play wrong– though playing wrong sometimes may also be the way to purposefully emphasize your musical message – if just flavoring.
If you do not know the scales- keep your playing on white or black keys exclusively or have a scale filter in your DAW, when your become more advanced…
To play chords: Play 3 keys down together (every second white) from different places in white keys. Occasionally leave two whites between in your triplet chord just for variety.
Have melody or chord (triplet) progression (repeating 3 or 4 different triplets) in your track basic structure. Start having your melody just on those triplet notes you are pressing in your progression at the time.
Start certain note in whites, have your melody and chords and return back to the same note as a loop after some turns.
Use arpeggiator for rhythms.
